Packing.....My mini nightmare
Via |
I leave on Friday for a work trip for two weeks. My dilemma, packing for 3 different climates and not taking too much luggage. I am going from mild to freezing to freaking freezing and then back to mild weather. For the past week, I have been scanning my wardrobe in my head while in the shower and driving to work, trying to mix and match everything to ensure that have covered business meeting attire to walking 5km a day while still being warm, comfortable and feeling oh so chic. Can this be done. Of course it can!
Here are some of my tips:
- Layer upon layer: pack layers, black camis, long sleeve tees, leggings, cardis and light sweaters.
- Pack 2-3 dresses that can be worn with and without tights
- pack on trusty winter coat
- buy mini bottles for your moisturiser, shampoo and conditioner. Or better yet use what the hotel shampoo and conditioner.
- Colour - I always pack 2-3 scarves in different colours to jazz up my outfits.
- Boots - as it is going to be cold and I will be doing some kms, a good pair of sturdy, solid boots are a must. Can be worn with jeans and a nice dress with tights
- I wear my bulky heavy items like my boots and coat on the plane as its easier than stuffing them in my suitcase.

LADY LOVING: Cote Noire Diffuser
Brunching last week with my best lady, I came across these beautiful diffusers by Cote Noire. These diffusers come with a classic French Carafe instead of your classic bottle. It is a great gift idea and the packaging is adorable and classic.
Queen of the night was the fragrance I picked which is a lovely floral sent with notes of jasmine and osmanthus. I picked mine up from Tempted in Kensington for $49.95.

Friday Fable
Wow, weeks are flying and time is slipping away. My year has started and I have definitely got lost in it. On Monday I started another Blogging course this one is run by Jo Klima and it is called Your Darling Blog. To be honest I have not had the time to sink my teeth in it as yet but I is very much design focused and a lot more content to read and get through. This is my Saturday task.
I hope you all had a lovely Australia day, unfortunately mine was spent buried in a rather complex excel spreadsheet.
So as the Fable says, I have more ideas than time. I just need to make time for the fun ones.

Where did the week go....Friday Fable
Was it just me or did last week fly by so quickly. I have missed posts. Anyway, here is your Friday Fable for the week.
IF SOMEONE SHOOTS A BULLET AT YOU – YOU ARE BULLETPROOF
IF SOMEONE IS A MOSQUITO – YOU ARE UN-STINGABLE
IF SOMEONE IS A VIRUS – YOU ARE IMMUNE!
IF SOMEONE IS A VIRUS – YOU ARE IMMUNE!
Letting people get to me is one of my weaknesses. But I Thank Lady of the South Land for giving me these wise words to help with the week that flew.

January Photo a Day: Week Two Recap
Day 8 - Your Sky - I am so lucky to have un-interupted views of the skys. Being in a big apartment block with lots of construction happening around me, I can sit in my terrace and watch the beautiful sky.
Day 9 - Daily Routine - I commute by car to work everyday. I can spend on a bad day nearly 2.5 hours in the car. Lucky that everyone is still on summer break as I am able to get home very quickly as there is a reduced amount of traffic.
Day 10 - Childhood - My smurf collection - These were handed down to me from my Aunt, to my cousin to me.
Day 11 - Where you sleep - simply my bed with my lovely Bed Bath n Table linen and my new addition, my Ikea Ribba picture shelf
Day 12 - Close up - of my linen on my bed
Day 13 - In your bag. Boy do I have a lot of lip gloss! Notable mentions to my hand bag contents is my Burberry wallet I was given for my 30th from Queen Elizabeth and my Uber cool Jimmy Choo sunnies.
Day 14 - Something you are reading - Steve Jobs Biography - This was on my wish list for Christmas, but as most stores had sold out of it, I have bought the digital version and am starting to read it on my ipad.

Lady Loves: Inspiring Women
I have a small "Girl Crush" with the ever so gorgeous Zooey Deschanel. Channel 10 have been pumping the new promos for New Girl starring the lovely Zooey. I couldn't wait until it screened so I got my paws on the first 8 eps of the show. OMG it is amazing, funny and at times embarrassing, but O so good.
But Zooey is more than an actress. She has and empowering aura about her. With her cute, dorky style, she also is one of the co-founders of Hello Giggles. Hello Giggles is a website that is all things girly, with beauty, BFFs and more. I love it. Also she sings in a indi band She & Him.
A social media princess she has a huge following on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The video below has had nearly 8 million hits. This girl can really sing.
My second inspiring woman I have come across this week is the lovely Rach from In spaces between. During my mini break over the Christmas period I cam across her blog. One word...Amazing. She is so positive about life and lives for the moment. She is honest and open and shares her life with her readers as well as empowering them to strive for the sky. Her posts about setting goals for the start of the new year are a must. These have been starred in my Google reader and for the past week I have been reading her wisdom.

Holiday Makeover: Lady's Studio/Office
I have been very undecided for the past six months on my office space at the Palace. Christmas break was my time to overcome the paper work and moving and adding to make it a more workable/functional space. I have been talking about this mini project for over a week, that I will share and post. So here it is.......
Lord and I live in a small space with not much storage. So the office/spare room/studio/dumping ground has and was a bit of a mess. I endeavored to have some order with my paper work and have all my pictures and finds on the wall. But the room was over run by an un-organised plethora of junk, paperwork and Lord's tools.
The aim to the mini makeover was file, organise and throw out anything we didn't need. lift everything off the desk so that I has a clean and clear workspace and finally to unclutter.
It is amazing what a forty dollar shelf can do to a room. Lifting everything off the desk has made such a difference. Sitting here, right now, I don't feel like I am been attacked by bank statements and bills. They all have their rightful place in folders in the book shelf. Which I turned upright and has given me so much extra space.
I used old Moccona jars that I have collected for all my odd and bods. The "imagine" word, i bought about four years ago and have never popped it on the wall. Now it lives above my desk.
I had so much fun doing this makeover. Did you do something over the holiday break that was similar?

January Photo a Day: Week One Recap
Last week I stumbled across the January Photo a Day through Fat Mum Slim. Its not too late to join. I have had a ball doing it and I am not the only one. If you want to follow me you can with the handle @ladyfable or you can see the Instagram Feed at the bottom left hand corner of my page!!
I thought I would share with you my first week of the challenge:
Day One: Me - New Years Day. Lord Fable and I went to have a drink at Niche on Bridge in Richmond after our Ikea visit.
Day Two: Breakfast - Over the break I discovered Yogurt and fresh Fruit. Especially Mangos. OMG they are the most amazing fruit. I am however allergic to them, but I is worth getting a little rash from them as they are just too yummy.
Day Three: Something I adore - My Ipad. it comes with me everywhere and I feel naked without it.
Day Four: Letter Box - I am starting to get mail everyday now, which is cool and sort of makes me feel like a grown up.
Day Five: Something I wore: Grey Heather Decjuba Dress I picked up in the Boxing day sales for $25. and my favourite H&M Scarf, fluro pop lovilness!
Day Six: Makes me smile - Dinner and girlie chats with new friends. I have been so lucky to be blessed with the people around me. (Especially you Lady Nat)
Day Seven: Favourite - My Favourite "Me Time" task is painting my nails, especially with my favourite brand of polish Butter London. This colour is "Snog"

This months issue reveals the winner of the Real Living Decorater competition (I don't really want to talk about this as I am wounded that I didn't even rate a mention) Only kidding :)

I don't want to spoil it for any of you Real Living lovers out there but I wanted to show you one article that they are show casing different ways to decorate with door knobs. I have been oggleing off all of Anthropoligie handles/knobs for some time for my only little makeover of my Tall boy. They are featuring 5 different DIY projects that you can do with them.
Real Living are also running a second class of "The School of Real Living". It is going to teach you how to create a functional home office. it is being held in Sydney and is $30 a head. If you are in Sydney and are going to go, please let me know what it is like.
