Link Love from the Lady

The flu has hit me hard, like a freight train express to Sydney. I can't remember the last time I was this sick. The one positive out of being ill is that you are forced to stop and rest. In doing so I have had a chance to read the newspaper and catch up on my mags that have been sitting on my bench. I just wanted to share some great sites that I have found through my few days of rest.

I can see some wallpaper from Wall Candy Wallpaper on one of the walls in the Palace
An Amazon Delivery of Holly Becker's Book Decorate was delivered last week. If you love interiors I highly recommend this book. It will blow your mind!

Fur Babies

The Lord and I have been discussing the future of late. One thing that I would love is a "Fur Baby". At the moment it is not feesable to have a puppy in the Palace but we are thinking for our next place (this is a million moons away) but at least we have a goal.

The Lord wanted a masculine strong looking puppy, like a bulldog or a staffie. I on the other hand wanted a small puppy like a Yorkie or a Pug. After much debate and discussion I think we have arrive at a happy medium. A French Bulldog. They are the most adorable little things, they tick both the Lords and the Lady's pre-requisites. The pointy ears, the smushed up face and their stocky build make them so freaking cute.

Now just need to save our pennies to upgrade to a bigger palace with a backyard!

Cheap Chic - It is possible

Ok, I love shoes. Like love them. It is the one thing that will always fit whether you lose or gain weight and that has always been my reasoning on buying very expensive shoes in the past. My budget however has stopped me from purchasing this season. I have to admit I have many a pairs that are beautiful but for the $300 plus price tag I just have not got the wear out of them.

My dear friend the Duchess of the South had been parading around in some new suede wedge booties. I instantly has booty envy and asked where she got them from. She whispered that she got them from Rubi Shoes for a bargain price of $27 (the day she went they had 30% 0ff).

Being a bit of a shoe snob, I will admit I have never walked into a Rubi shoe store before. Mainly as the stench of the PU material was always a put off. So while in need of some retail therapy The Duchess and I went on a Friday night shopping spree.

I purchased three pairs of shoes for $80. Yes they are fake suede but unless you are 10cm away from my feet you can't tell the difference.

I would not say that I am completely converted to inexpensive shoes but this was some retail therapy that was definatly needed and didn't put too much strain on the budget!

So Lady Fable has some top tips when being Chic on the Cheap when it comes to shoes!

  1. Opt for the faux suede as it isn't so noticably "Fake". Faux leather can be picked out a mile away
  2. Buy foam insoles for extra comfort as cheap never mean comfortable.
Does anyone have any Cheap Chic tips to share?

Friday Fable late once again

Dear Fable Lovers,

One of my dearest friends created this lovely art work for a tee and I thought it was fitting for a Friday Fable. The Bike is so cute. A print out is currently sitting in my office waiting to be framed and hung on my wall.

Chilling out in FIJI

I have had a great break from the digital world. I have been on a lovely holiday with my family in Fiji. Six nights of relaxing, reading and eating way too much food. the unfortunate thing is I have come back from my trip with an allergic reaction. To what, we will never know, but it is from head to toe and I feel like a Leper. I will be back in full swing on Monday.

One of the books that I read while I was away that really affected me (to the point that I was depressed for the day after I finished it) was Still Alice.

A heartbreaking story of a woman, who at 50 is diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's disease. The Author, Lisa Genova holds a PHD in Neuroscience and is her first book. It was fantastic read, but was so real that it left me thinking. The story follows her from when she realises that something is not right to going through all the tests to find out that she has Alzheimer's disease. It then goes through the emotion and hearbreak of how this degenrative disease effects the sufferer and their family.

A brilliant read but would recommend on reading this at home rather than on a Sunlounger on holidays. Too many tears!!
